Personal Statement Editing

The MSW Helper team is ready and available to edit and critique personal statements to ensure applicants’ writing is thorough and cohesive.

We started MSW Helper after realizing that the very people we need and want to become social workers face barriers in making their application stand out during the competitive process of applying to Master of Social Work programs.

By helping applicants write a strong personal statement we increase diversity and equity in the social work field, creating a field that better reflects the communities we seek to serve as social workers.

How MSW Helper got started.

Hi, I’m Michelle Bruxer, and I’m the Founder of MSW Helper.

Applying to grad school is an exciting - and stressful - milestone for students. Even though I have always been a strong writer I had no idea if the personal statements I was crafting were what admissions committees were looking for.

So, after I got accepted to graduate school I started helping MSW applicants with their personal statements. This started as a hobby based out of my local library while finishing grad school. At the time I would have never imagined the demand and unmet need for grad school application services that specialized in social work applications.

6 years later the MSW Helper team has edited hundreds of personal statements and supported thousands of future social workers with our free resources.

The MSW Helper team offers a wide variety of resources aimed at helping MSW applicants feel confident about their applications. From the blog, resource library, university partnerships, webinars, to our personal statement editing and support services, MSW Helper is the go-to resource for Master of Social Work applicants.
